lahznimmo architects in association with Wilson Architects were engaged by Lend Lease to prepare a proposal for the new The School of Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences building (F07 LEES1) for the University of Sydney. The project program included: three levels of teaching laboratories and three levels of research laboratories. The site for the Lees1 Building is prominently located at the southern end of Eastern Avenue with a frontage to City Road. The design aims to provide a termination to Eastern Avenue as well as create one half of a new gateway composition by responding to the proposed F23 Administration building, which was being designed in parallel. In addition to creating a new campus Gateway the building composition also responds to the existing context of Eastern Avenue and its heritage importance.
