Based on lahznimmo architects’ previous experience during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games with the delivery of a variety of temporary structures, including the NBC Today Show Broadcast Pavilion, the Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) approached lahznimmo architects to assist in delivering the new Monster Skate Park at Sydney Olympic Park.
The 1st stage of the project involved the master planning of a precinct comprising indoor and outdoor skate courses and ramps, spectator seating and a signature retail and ‘chillout’ building. The 2nd stage involved the detailed briefing, design and documentation of the retail building. The timeline and budgets constraints for the project delivery were such that lahznimmo architects assembled a design and construct team with Les Moore Projects acting as Construction Managers. This team worked collaboratively with SOPA and ARD, the ramp designers and park operators, from sketch design onwards on the design and delivery of the building.
