This project involved a multi disciplinary design team which had to design and construct in a four month period “giant” illuminated Olympic Rings which could span across Martin Place in Sydney and mark one of the cities six Olympic Live Sites. lahznimmo architects were approached by the Olympic Coordination Authority on the basis of their work completed to date as the Look of the Games Architects for Sydney 2000. Strategically the Martin Place Rings became a grand proscenium arch for the giant television screen of the Martin Place Olympic Live site, enlarging the Olympic logo into an “Oldenburg/Speer-like” installation.
