After successfully completing the Humanities and Science Development Plan lahznimmo architects and Spackman and Mossop Landscape Architects were engaged to design a new campus place between the National Library of Australia and Questacon. The aim of the Campus place is to provide a major public space to unify the campus precinct and existing design elements. The scheme has two main parts: the restoration and upgrade of the existing National Library of Australia forecourt; and, through the removal of Enid Lyons Street, the creation of a new public space which provides improved amenity for people. Whilst respecting the neo-classical formality of the National Library, the design provides a more appropriate setting for the sculptures of Reconciliation Place and the original Simon Kringas design, as well as the many young visitors to Questacon. The project was completed in early 2010.
